Module Buying Guide
IMPORTANT: Some knives can have different dimensions due to creative design choices so it is important that when choosing a module, always double check if the knife will fit by measuring your knife.
The main measurements are:
Blade Length
Blade length is the length of the blade from the tip to when the blade transitions into the bolster. If the blade does not have a bolster, then measure until the top of the handle.
Max blade length (MBL): this is the maximum allowable length of blade the knife block module will comfortably hold.
Blade Height
Blade height is the measurement from the highest point of the spine to the lowest point of the edge.
Max blade height (MBH): this is the maximum allowable height of the blade the knife module will comfortably hold and is important when deciding if (for example) a fillet knife will fit in module B or E.
Blade Width
Blade width is the determined by measuring the thickness of the blades spine.
Max blade width (MBW): this serves two purposes. The first is to determine the maximum thickness of the blade that can fit within a knife block module. The second is that it determines when the handle is too thin. Make sure the handle width is greater than the MBW but 2 mm.
